It is located a short distance south from Glenferrie Road, in the well regarded precinct known as "Scotch Hill", being located approximately 7.5 kilometres south-east of the Melbourne CBD.
The immediate precinct is predominantly residential in nature, comprising a variety of period style dwellings and apartments mainly constructed circa 1900 - 1950, although also interspersed with more recent unit and townhouse developments.
The area features a variety of educational institutions, most notably Scotch College and Swinburne University. Public transport is accessible via a tram service operating along Glenferrie Road whilst the Kooyong railway station is located a short distance south. The Glenferrie/Riversdale corner has a tram service running north, south, east & west. North to Kew Junction with surrounding private schools and excellent shopping facilities; South to St. Kilda Beach; East through Camberwell Junction to Burwood and West to Collins Street and the Docklands. This site is within close proximity to a variety of retail facilities including the extensive Glenferrie Road strip retail precincts of Hawthorn to the north and Malvern shopping facilities to the south, with the Camberwell Junction shopping precinct to the east.
There is an extensive variety of parkland and leisure facilities within walking distance of the site including the Burnley Gardens and golf course, Kooyong Park and Tennis club and the Yarra River cycling and walking trails.
